Quantum Random Number Generator

This product uses light quanta for the generation of lowest correlation random numbers at high rate, as used for cryptographic applications. The requirement for the electornics in this application is the registration of single photons in defined time intervals. Based on our premier infrastructure, we were able to provide the customer with a measrement system capable of single photon detection on a time scale of 2 nanoseconds. The electronics were developed within a short time scale and use the following technologies:
  • Ultra fast analog circuitry for the registration and preprocessing of Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT) signals
  • Ultra fast digital ECL logic for signal preprocessing
  • Signal processing and random number generation using FPGA
  • Visualization and evaluation of random numbers using PC software and DLL via USB 2.0
